Michael-David McKernan is an Irish filmmaker previously long-listed for an Oscar and a nominee for a Young Directors Award at Cannes Lions.


His debut feature as a writer/director is currently in development with Screen Ireland’s Perspectives scheme.


The short films he cut his teeth on as a director screened internationally at film festivals such as Tribeca, Odense, Flickerfest Australia, Dublin, Galway and BFI Flare.


Cat & Mouse, a Screen Ireland Focus Short about a man in a mouse costume and a disgruntled waitress, premiered in 2024 and recently played at California’s Newport Beach Film Festival.


As an actor, he trained at Bow Street Academy and screen credits include Baltimore, Harry Wild and the upcoming TV adaptation of The Rainmaker.


When working solo as a videographer/editor he specialises in creating bespoke content for creative people/companies. Clients include Sadler’s Wells, Abbey Theatre, National Gallery of Ireland, Feast Creative Agency.
